GREAT AMERICAN DINER
This swanky West Seattle diner has an open mic hosted by musician and friend Alan Sobel, and this happened to be along my way to Norwescon. I took a spot on the mic for a short book reading, making this the first time I’ve played to a diner (though Cafe Racer for Two-Hour Transport is close). To hardly any interruption and for a sale, it was a fine stop.
Excellent discussions and fabulous times. It is so satisfying being a creative intellectual playtime wonderland host & participant. Many topics enjoyably covered, and plenty of new interest in Bones of Starlight! Welcome. Picture details in captions.

These two great events eluded mention on this website at the time of their occurrence: Resonate 1/31 Oakland, where I sold books at a mini-table for this party promoting the feminine in electronic music culture, and Two-Hour Transport 3/27 Seattle, where I delivered a featured book reading to the seasoned writers’ gathering & open mic.
Above, I can be seen in profile to the right of the brightly lit corner of art to the upper right of the crowd, discussing my books with someone during Naughty Princess‘ excellent set. Following are a few other highlights:
Myself with electric violinist & Resonate organizer Kasey Lee
a remarkable stormtrooper stage performance
‘Mother of the Ocean’ layered wood printing by Phoenix, featuring Hannah Mermaid, elder sister of headlining DJ Naughty Princess
While I’m late mentioning this event, I’m doing so just in time to let you know about Resonate’s next workshop for women making music:
I read from Abyss Surrounding as a featured author, along with Patrick Hurley, for my second participation in this great group of Seattle-area sci-fi writers and appreciators! I also moved a small house that day, and wore my dirt boots to the reading.
Pictured below, author K.G. Anderson & publisher Tom Whitmore were my gracious Ballard hosts.
I made it into Seattle for a first-time reading with the ongoing Two-Hour Transport science fiction fantasy feature & open mic. It’s a neat venue for airing and absorbing incipient stories of a wide variety. This is in fact the first public reading from the re-issue version of Book 1, and I’m happy to say that the book functions as intended – it has the words inside!
You can now enjoy the entire 1st Sequence (1-13) of Bones of Starlight: Fire Within as an audiobook via Bandcamp – read by the author, with music by Phutureprimitive. If you appreciate what you hear, please donate as you download your copy!
This audiobook version is the first release featuring the adjusted text of book 1, now with standard agendered pronouns for Dragons, as they are in Bones of Starlight universe. Look forward to the print reissue, as well as the online re-run (updated story straight through, doubled sections, no interruptions) to follow the original serial completion of Book 2: Abyss Surrounding.
