Had an enjoyable reading for the virtual OR-eCon last weekend, and we did dawdle just a little bit into lunchtime.
Sharing here the autograph pages of the WFC 2020 program, featuring our various digital signings. I’m there on the far upper right – on the edge, naturally – near Mary Anne Mohanraj and S.M. Stirling. Heading leftwards along my latitude, I can find Sarah Pinsker, Kate Elliott, Sheree Renee Thomas, Julie Czerneda, guest of honor David Cherry, and my Nebula grandmaster mentor, Joe Haldeman. Great reads by all of these authors, glad to be recorded in their company!
It’s pretty and light, seemingly – the new PDF version of Fire Within! $5 to @Eva-Elasigue-Primal-Spiral on Venmo, or to firstname.lastname@example.org over PayPal to get the ball rolling. I am happy to report that this PDF is also accessible to people who have a World Fantasy Convention virtual pass.
I’m on the pro roster for this year‘s World Fantasy Convention, theoretically of Utah but effectively anywhere – October 29 to November 1. This convention has a great contingent of publishers, authors, and diehards, and I’m happy to be presenting this year. I have a reading, a panel, an autograph in the program, and a book in the bundle! Panel below:
The Art of the Series
Writing a series can be a balancing act that takes place over years to decades. Keeping the characters, themes, and atmosphere consistent over the years can be a difficult trial for those who work in this longest of all forms. Who is particularly good at the art of the series?
Here’s a video of the reading I did for the Poetry Open Mic at the World Fantasy Convention – this ancient-epic style poem is contained in Bones of Starlight 1: Fire Within, performed upon the occasion of the 7-year holiday of Pyrean Midsummer, when four planets of the Pan-Galactic Imperium have aligned solstices.
(I was actually surprise video’d by the illustrious Deborah Beale, who also caught some pictures for me. But, why not? The words as spoken.)
