More Happening

Appendix development continues apace for Bones of Starlight. Other things that have happened along the way:

– mentoring workshop at Summer Night Moon Bloom Festival

– art showing at BloomDance

– midnight reading & talk on the All Things Mystical virtual speaker marathon by Entheo Society

– Primal Spiral Open Hours

– reading & presentation for the September Salon hosted by University of Washington with graduate Meshell Sturgis of Black Girl Magic

– reading & talk: Permaculture Aspects of a Personal Creative Network at The HeART of Organizing: Arts & Social Change, by Blue Heart Foundation

– Panel (Races in Fantasy & Racism) & poetry reading at World Fantasy Convention 2023 Kansas City

BOOK 2: ABYSS SURROUNDING, variant cover alert

The corrected 2nd printing of Abyss Surrounding has a cover flaw that’s being fixed: rasterized artwork. Apologies to Leo Shallat, the artist of the painting “Open Source.” It’s at least a semi-referential flaw; when the Kao-Sidhe appear at the beginning of that volume, they cause a series of technoglitches in Soleil’s computing. Consider it a character-author prank made visible. If you happen to receive one of those, consider it limited edition with a fine interior – get it while you can? If you’re sure you’d also like a copy with fully intact artwork, I can be contacted at primal.spiral@gmail.com, and we can figure out how to level up your library.

The difference is as follows:

Major Update

Here’s the quick list of things that have happened that I haven’t posted about here!

Paneling at MisCon Missoula

Book 3: Greater Beyond published in hardcover 7/14 (What! Really?! Yes!)

Paneling at ArmadilloCon Austin

Book 2: Abyss Surrounding 2nd Printing available 8/10

Wow! Lots has still been happening on the Bones of Starlight front! Even though I happily stopped adhering to a twice-weekly posting schedule when the serialization concluded (after 9 years), I am still making things for you.

Such as: The Appendix! Oh, yes. Bones of Starlight will have an Appendix. It deserves an Appendix. There’s certainly enough material. So that’s what I’m doing, as promised. Things like People, Places, Glossary, (I know this is incredibly exciting) And More.

Am I really mostly posting to Facebook right now? Kinda, yeah. I know that there are better ways, but I’m currently reinventing my authorial process, and sometimes the least I can do is all I will do for the thanks I get. Hey though, life is rewarding. It has in fact all been worth it. That’s why I’m still doing this.

TOC Complete

As a little task for the free online version, I did the final update on the Table of Contents for Greater Beyond (on the popdown menu at the very top, scroll up). Now all 151 sections are linked. 151 rum is an ingredient in a drink called the Molotov Cocktail – could this really be that incendiary? Haha, ha ha. Incendiary is in the eye of the agitator and the agitated. This story is of those times, in that place, in that universe. I wrote it as though this is simply the way things went, regardless of our opinions of events in another universe. Yet, 151 it is.

Norwescon 45 Schedule!

And for the first event I get to do after completing my trilogy, the home city SFF convention that’s featured me as a pro since five years ago, and given me some of my most stacked schedulings. I don’t mind! These conversations are lifeblood! Here’s a whole new set of juicy central topics, starting today.
